Ready to enroll?

Small Group Session

Option #1:

We hold small group sessions most months of the year. These sessions are joined (via Zoom) by midwives from all over the United States, and occasionally by midwives in other countries. Participants range from student midwives to those who have been practicing for decades. Enrollment is first opened to those on our interest list, and these sessions usually fill up quickly through that list. If you are outside the United States, please email jesica@HiveCE.com prior to enrollment, to make an individualized plan regarding your supplies.

If you want to attend a small group session, the best way to do that is to sign up on the interest list! Signing up on the interest list does not enroll you nor obligate you in any way, and does not require any payment information.

INTEREST LIST SIGN-UP

Private Small Group Session

Option #2:

Would you like to attend a private session with colleagues of your choosing? We offer private sessions for groups of 4 to 6 at the same price as our general small group cohorts ($345 per person). This is a great choice for any group of midwives that wants to learn together, or "get on the same page" about suturing protocols. We recommend that you contact us at least 4 weeks in advance of your desired dates for the live portion, but we will do our best to accommodate requests that are 2-4 weeks out. We cannot accommodate requests that are less than 2 weeks out. Please email jesica@HiveCE.com to arrange this option.

Private Session for 1 or 2 Participants

Option #3:

We can arrange a private session (just you!) for $499. Or, if you can find one other midwife/student midwife to do it with you, for $399 per person. (It is $345 through a small group cohort, so doing it with one other person is not much more.) This is a great option for those who desire even more individualized attention during the live Zoom, or need to take this course sooner than the next small group session. We recommend that you contact us at least 4 weeks in advance of your desired date for the live portion, but we will do our best to accommodate requests that are 2-4 weeks out. We cannot accommodate requests that are less than 2 weeks out. Please email jesica@HiveCE.com to arrange this option.

“Thank you, Holly and Jesica! Beautifully organized... Not only the course material and the learning objectives, but every step of the way I felt honored and valued as a participant. It was really fun (and so helpful) for me to learn so systematically and update my skills and knowledge base. The quizzes were a great way to check myself and make sure I retained the important details. Thank you, too, for taking the extra time to answer my specific questions~ invaluable. It's also great to have access to the lessons~ I will definitely be going back to rewatch some of the lessons. I also am grateful to you for offering a BIPOC discount. As an Asian and indigenous woman, it made the course feel that much more attainable and welcoming. Thank you for your time, energy, skill and commitment to the midwifery community. Love the marked thumb forceps~ my new favorite addition to my bags ; )”

Caroline S

“I really liked the scored forceps!”

Cassi F

RN, CNM, August 2023

“Excellent structure, communication, and clarity. The approach was perfectly gradual so that going into it and beginning the course, I felt like I had a lot of ground to cover, and by the end, I felt like I had had enough time to integrate the information and to feel competent. Thank you for putting this together, and I look forward to the advanced suturing skills class.”

Dorian M

LM, August 2023

“This course was wonderful and i will definitely (and have already) be recommending it to other midwives and student midwives that i know that do not feel confident with their suturing skills. Doing the hands on practice and then receiving direct feedback during the group sessions as well as the exam was very helpful for me. It increased my confidence and skill with suturing, even though i have a ways to go still. I feel that suturing is an area in which many midwives lack confidence and skill and therefore this course is very valuable and i appreciate how thorough both the content, the preparation (including sending us kits) as well as the instruction and constructive feedback was. Thank you so much!”

Mischa O

CPM, June 2023

“I have taken two other suturing workshops and this one is in a league of its own! After complete this class, I feel much more confident in my ability to precisely assess tears, suture with excellence, and chart the procedure clearly and accurately.”

Amanda S

CPM, May 2023

“I am so grateful that you provide such an excellent learning opportunity. The level of experience and expertise is extraordinary.”

Julia B

Student Midwife, March 2023

“This was a great course. Learned a lot and feel this course should be taken to midwifery education programs and can be foundational in establishing a standardized way for midwives to learn to suture. ”

Kimberly S

RN, CNM, February 2023

“I absolutely loved this course! I have been telling all of my midwife friends and student midwives about it. I rarely give such high marks for any kind of survey, the thought being there is always room for improvement. In this case they were well deserved! This was my first class through HiveCE, and I will absolutely be taking more!”

Nicole K

CPM, December 2022

“Course was very useful; gave me a good framework and 'equation' with which to approach suturing which is very useful. I love the surgical knot technique, this was invaluable. The overall approach and techniques taught have changed the way I suture. Also really appreciate the guidance provided on charting. I wish there had been more info on some more complicated issues that arise sometimes with suturing, hematoma's and managing sutures that fail - hoping this is in the advance class or a followup workshop. ”

Kate V

CPM, October 2022

“It was excellent and I will be recommending it to my peers.”

Sydney J

LM, October 2022

“I loved the instruction, it was very clear and gave definitive measures to use when evaluating and repairing that I have not been exposed to previously.”

Nicole H

CPM, October 2022

“Great course! I really felt a huge shift in my confidence level. The explanations and videos were clear. I can replay them in my mind before I sleep :). The practice session and exam were really helpful. Can’t rate it any higher!”

Ariel S

RN, CPM, September 2022

“This course was great! I'm really grateful of coming across this course and being able to actually put into practice what was learned in the videos and being evaluated. ”

Maria E

RN, CNM, August 2022

“I don't know if I missed it but I was not prepared for how much time of prep work / studying was involved. All of it was fantastic information, and well worth doing. I just missed this so felt I was scrambling a bit before the in-person class. Having a handout / information about the saline recipe suggested, and also a handout on sterilization techniques would be great. Overall, absolutely fantastic class! I highly recommend to anyone. I wish I had taken this class when I began suturing. I have taken several in person, online and courses with my midwifery preceptors. However, none of them were as in depth and well-rounded as this class. It covers everything! I finally feel proficient in suturing. ”

Amanda W

CPM, August 2022

“I am so grateful for all the time and effort you all put into this! Thank you thank you! There truly isn't anything I would change :). I started this course feeling totally overwhelmed and knowing NOTHING - and I now feel like I have a solid foundation to practice and move forward. I cannot thank you enough!!”

Anna M

Student Midwife, August 2022

“I learned so much! I recently took a class [from another site] and their videos were very long and not clearly identified by title. I found this class’s online portion SO much easier. They were broken down into smaller parts with clear titles. Which made it easy to go back when I came across questions I had, that I had missed. Or just to go back to figure out which instruments I might buy now etc. The one on one instruction was super helpful for me and very worth the small extra cost. Thanks again so much to both of you for this opportunity! Hugs! ”

Christina S

CPM, May 2022 (private session)

“Just want to congratulate the organizers/teachers of this course for their excellent work. Thank you! ”

Maíra B

Traditional Midwife, April 2022

“I was so grateful for the content and the way in which it was presented. Holly is so smart as is Jesica. My communication with Jesica was prompt and the course allowed for the perfect flexibility of having to attend a birth on the day of my cohort with a reasonable make up date of exactly one week later. I have a much deeper understanding of the double decker interrupted stitch and feel more confident.”

Brooke P

CPM, April 2022

“Holly is an excellent teacher. I've taken many other suturing classes but none of them have come close to helping me with my suturing skills as much as this course has.”

Lennon C

CPM, April 2022

“This was such an incredible opportunity and I learned so so much from Holly and the other participants. I am hoping for more opportunities for practice. It could look like a monthly/bi-monthly practice session where folks come in and trouble shoot with Holly and have her expert eyes on their sutures. I know I would surely join! Thank you Jesica for all of the work you put into making registration so smooth and organised. I really do appreciate it.”

Nora A

Student Midwife, March 2022

“I am so appreciative of this course! It has built my confidence in suturing in so many ways! Once I’m a preceptor I will pay for my students to take this course 😊”

Anne M

CPM, March 2022

“I just want to say again how thoroughly impressed I am with this course. I have recommended it to all of my classmates & the CNM’s I work with for CEU’s. Thank you for what you both do!”

Sarah B

Student Midwife, January 2022

“I really enjoyed the Hands-on Suture class with Holly and Jesica. I am a young in my midwifery practice and suturing is a skill that I had little confidence. I had many questions, but the class videos exposed me to terminology, techniques, and gave me tools to better me in the midwifery field. The classes answered my questions and whys. After taking the Hands-on Suture class I went from insecure feelings to secure feelings that I can do a good suture. Thank you, Holly and Jesica, for pouring hours of hard work into the videos and literature. Thank you for giving me a solid education in suturing. ”

Angela S

CPM, January 2022

“This is one of the best CEU opportunities I've experienced - an excellent course!”

Nancy B

Participant, January 2022 Cohort

“It was extremely well put together, informative, thorough, easy to use, and incorporated so many different ways to make sure we got it.”

Alyssa J

“I really, really appreciated the videos showing left handed suturing.”

“I was pleasantly surprised by how detailed this course was. I learned way more than I expected.”

Charlene T

Stephanie F

Participant, June 2021 Cohort

“This course was excellent! Holly and Jessica were highly educated, professional, skilled and patient while educating both the novice and experienced midwife. ”

Rebecca W

Participant, May 2021

“The suturing course was excellent. The information and the way the course is designed was thorough and really covered all learning styles. I really appreciated being able to watch the instructional videos multiple times as I was practicing suturing. I appreciate the group learning class because I was able to watch others and learn from them as they were suturing. I really appreciate the time Holly took with us individually and answered all our questions and gave valuable tips and tools as we are learning this skill. I went into this course really nervous about suturing. After completing the course I feel like I have learned so much and it has given me the confidence that I need as I continue learning and practicing this important skill.”

Amy R

Participant, June 2021 Cohort

“The course was great! It did much more than teaching me HOW to suture; it increased my confidence in an area that has intimidated for a long time. Holly was super calming, CLEARLY a boss in suturing and broke it down in a way that was logical.”

Aisha R

Participant, May 2021 Cohort

“Thank you Jesica and Holly I appreciated this class and learned a lot! Your time and attention is invaluable! I would like to see more classes for different circumstances like: other types of tears or using numbing medications. Also, I want to say thank you for offering a BIPOC discount!! The discount makes this class more accessible.”
